What is Stance Change ?

Stance Change is an Ability introduced in Generation VI. It is the signature Ability of Aegislash.

How to get it ?

To get the stance change, fuse it the other way around and then reverse it. Its Not reversing twice. Unfuse it and then fuse it the other way around so you can choose the ability again.

How does it work ?

In Battle:

The Stance Change ability allows Aegislash to switch between two forms: Shield Forme and Blade Forme. When not in battle, Aegislash remains in Shield Forme. If it uses a damaging move in Shield Forme, it immediately switches to Blade Forme before executing the move. Conversely, if Blade Forme Aegislash uses King’s Shield, it switches back to Shield Forme before using the move. Staying in Shield Forme is the default state when not engaged in battle.

It’s important to note that status moves, excluding King’s Shield, do not trigger a change in Aegislash’s form. Additionally, moves that call other moves, like Sleep Talk, won’t induce a form change, even if they result in a damaging move or King’s Shield.

Certain moves, such as Gastro Acid, Worry Seed, and Simple Beam, fail when used against a Pokémon with Stance Change. Role Play, Skill Swap, Entrainment, and Doodle also fail if either Pokémon involved has Stance Change. Furthermore, Stance Change cannot be copied by Trace, Power of Alchemy, or Receiver.

It is immune to being replaced by Mummy or Lingering Aroma, negated by Core Enforcer or Neutralizing Gas, and unaffected by Wandering Spirit. If a Pokémon other than Aegislash acquires Stance Change through Imposter or Transform, it will not undergo a form change.

Generation VI:

If Aegislash tries to use a move but is unable to do so because of factors like a status condition, confusion, or disobedience, Stance Change still triggers as expected.

Generation VII onward:

Should Aegislash attempt to use a move but faces an inability to execute it, such as being affected by a status condition or confusion, Stance Change remains inactive.

Outside of battle:

Stance Change has no effect outside of battle.
